OUGD601: Art on the Street

I considered several spaces to place a piece of board that was in reach of me to paint on in it's intended space, as well as holding the board securely so that factors such as wind didn't alter it's position; this is only up to the audience to converse/engage with. Because of the small scale of the board it was quite difficult to find a suitable space for it, but eventually I settled with a waist high bollard which would be in better view for people passing by in the street.

Another piece :

Using traditional painting techniques the process became dissimilar from a lot of street art which is quickly produced because of the illegalities, so artists want to finish a piece before they get caught. Working on boards allowed me to have more time creating the piece which is something I wouldn't have to worry about if I was doing commissioned pieces on the street either.

Third:

The two pieces in Hyde Park had been moved/removed less than 24 hours after I did them, which hopefully means someone has engaged with it if they have been physically moved from their original place.

I feel that I could have made the pieces more site-specific, though it is important to my development that each piece can work in any context, if it is going to be of temporary nature and easy to remove and replace.
